Dear members and friends,
We are pleased to invite you to our International Women's Group HOME Art Exhibition. It will open on 3 July 2025 and will be an artistic exploration of identity, belonging and the concept of ‘HOME’.
The eagerly awaited 12th art exhibition of the International Women's Group, HOME, opens on 3 July 2025 at the Galerie Treppenhaus in Erlangen and brings together an impressive selection of works by 11 female artists from 7 countries. The works explore themes of identity, belonging, memory and longing, offering a collective and powerful statement on what ‘home’ means to these international women artists.
The exhibition features a wide range of painting media and reclaims the term “HOME” from a female perspective. Each piece tells a personal story that resonates universally.
“Women have always shaped the concept of ‘HOME’ – not only physically, but also emotionally and spiritually,” says Linda M. Eviston-Putsch, initiator of the exhibition.
Our Association International Women's Group Franconia (IWG), founded in 1995, is open to all international women. Its mission is to bring together women from different cultures, provide them with information and support, and promote cultural exchange.
The Artists:
Meilin Ehlke: “My work with natural pigments from earth, flowers, shells, gold, and silver explores the feeling of home as a deep connection to a place, the here and now, and the natural world.”
Sonja Frenzel: “As an artist and animal lover, home for me is not tied to a specific place, but rather to a feeling and the beings around me.”
Sabine Graf: “In Indonesia and Cambodia, fleeting glimpses of children playing near their homes inspired me to capture the transient beauty of everyday life.”
Hafizah Hairi-Ungar: “Inspired by a recent visit to Malaysia, these works explore the evolving sense of ‘home’ between my birthplace and the life I’m building with my family in Germany.”
Rosemary Keßler: “Childhood memories of playing in the fields, Greasley’s bells in the distance, and teatime with Mum’s fresh bread – and today the breathtaking beauty of the Franconian cherry trees.”
Monika Lehner-Kranzfelder: “Home is reflected in my work in the studio. It is a feeling of well-being, letting myself drift creatively and creating dancing figures, portraits, or abstract mixed-media works.”
Jill McNeilage-Gold: “There is something both exhilarating and soothing about painting the beautiful, muted blues, greys, and greens of the seas and landscapes of my Scottish homeland.”
Evgeniia Mekhova: “Painting outdoors allows me to reflect the beauty and unpredictability of life, and is not only an artistic process but also a profound connection to nature.”
Beth Pessl-Rossi: “Painting people and places close to my heart brings me the greatest joy – as does finding the creative flow, diving into colour, and letting surprises simply happen.”
Nadine Smirnova: “I paint my feelings – my new home, my new city... Everything feels so unfamiliar, as if I’ve suddenly grown up, like Alice after the magic potion.”
Debbie Welss: “Home is where my heart is – cooking with family and friends and capturing the sensual colours and delicious aromas of my favourite dishes on canvas!”
